(Commodity Futures Act)
Exemptions for International Dealers, Advisers and Sub-advisers
On October 17, 2022, °ÄÃÅÓÀÀû Securities Commission Rule 32-506 (Commodity Futures Act) Exemptions for International Dealers, Advisers and Sub-Advisers (OSC Rule 32-506) came into force.
OSC Rule 32-506 is a regulatory burden reduction initiative and codifies relief that was, until recently, routinely granted by the Commission under the Commodity Futures Act (°ÄÃÅÓÀÀû) (the CFA) to international dealers, international advisers and international sub-advisers (collectively, international firms).
OSC Rule 32-506 codifies exemptive relief for international firms in order to
- enhance institutional investor access to international options and futures markets and thereby reduce regulatory costs for such investors, and
- reduce regulatory burden by eliminating the need for international firms to file applications for exemptive relief.

Amendment to OSC Rule 91-502
Trades in Recognized Options
On October 17, 2022, an amendment (the 91-502 Amendment) to OSC Rule 91-502 Trades in Recognized Options (OSC Rule 91-502) came into force.
The 91-502 Amendment is a regulatory burden reduction initiative and codifies relief that was, until recently, routinely granted by the Commission under OSC Rule 91-502 to international dealers, international advisers and international sub-advisers (collectively, international firms).
The 91-502 Amendment codifies exemptive relief for international firms in order to
- enhance institutional investor access to international options and futures markets and thereby reduce regulatory costs for such investors, and
- reduce regulatory burden by eliminating the need for international firms to file applications for exemptive relief.
